Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi will be sidelined for approximately eight weeks following knee surgery.
Guehi, aged 23, sustained his injury during Crystal Palace’s defeat to Brighton on February 3rd and was substituted after 28 minutes.
Initially, it was anticipated that the injury would sideline the English defender for two to three weeks.
However, subsequent scans revealed a more serious condition, necessitating knee surgery.
Consequently, Guehi will be unavailable for England’s upcoming fixtures against Brazil and Belgium next month, which are crucial matches before manager Gareth Southgate finalizes his Euro 2024 squad.
Although there was an option for Guehi to forego surgery, opting for conservative treatment, it was deemed that such an approach might lead to the need for more extensive intervention in the future.
